Odgovorno igranje

Play responsibly. If you are experiencing problems with gambling, seek help from your GP or contact the Idrija Psychiatric Hospital (Department for Non-Chemical Addictions): 041 481 566 (weekdays between 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM). Poker is an exciting and intellectually demanding game, but it is essential that we play it responsibly. Gambling should remain a form of entertainment — not a financial solution or a source of stress. The guidelines below will help you maintain a healthy relationship with poker and gambling. 1. Set limits and stick to them Before playing, set a budget and a time limit for your sessions. This ensures that your play stays within boundaries that will not negatively affect your finances or schedule. Use tools such as budget management apps or poker tracking software to help. Never exceed these limits, even when chasing losses. 2. Understand the risks Every card, hand, or bet carries risk. A win is never guaranteed, losses are a natural part of gambling, and even the best players experience losing sessions. Accept that there are no certainties in gambling, and approach every game with a mindset focused on learning — not earning. Never play with money you cannot afford to lose. 3. Keep poker fun Treat poker as a hobby or a mental challenge, not as a means of paying bills or solving financial problems. Balance your play with other hobbies, physical activity, and time with family or friends. This will support your overall wellbeing and sharpen your focus at the table. 4. Be mindful of your emotional state Your emotional wellbeing has a significant impact on your decision-making at the poker table. Avoid playing when you are angry, anxious, or feeling overwhelmed, as these states lead to poor decisions. Also avoid playing under the influence of alcohol or drugs. 5. Recognise problematic behaviour If gambling begins to negatively affect your relationships, finances, or general wellbeing, it is time to seek help — early intervention prevents more serious problems from developing. Signs of problematic behaviour include playing longer than planned, borrowing money to gamble, or placing poker above essential responsibilities. If you notice these patterns, stop and seek advice.
